“Yes, Jeannie, we all know how dangerous you are. You can put that knife down now.”

Jeannie pulled the knife away from her neck and placed it on the kitchen counter as I approached to get a clear view of the incandescent space between her shoulder and her neck. “You know, Jeannie, while nothing has been indisputably proven by the authorities, anyone who has a fucking brain knows that you did it. But alas, the law has to follow the rules. Me? I don’t have rules. Rules are for the living.” I deeply inhaled the freshly showered nape underneath her hair. “So Jeannie, just to make things clear, let’s have it once and for all, the truth, did you attack Victor Castillo that night by pouring acid all over his face, yes or no?”

Jeannie nodded. “Yes.”

“Thank you, sweetheart. But then again, I never doubted it. Not even for a moment.” The scent of fear arose from my bony intended. It is a scent that humans might find to be pungent. For us, it is fresher and sweeter than the fragrances I imagine were worn by Joan Collins and Linda Grey before they beat the shit out of each other on Dynasty. “Now the proper justice, Jeannie, would be for me to disfigure that pretty face of yours just like you did to Victor. But, honestly, Jeannie, that was a pretty sick, fucked-up thing to do. And I’m not a sicko like you. So I guess we could say, sweetheart, that in my own way, I am showing you a little mercy.”

A short, high-pitched gasp broke free from Jeannie as my incisors pierced her jugular. It almost sounded orgasmic. But Jeannie was not the one who was reaching such heights.

The pleasure was all mine.
